The harmony of nature, captured in sound.
Music is a vibrational life force.
Energy = Life = Music
Music has been ebbing and flowing in my life since it began. Like tidal waters responding to the cycles of the moon, so have I moved with the currents of music in my journey through time. Folks tend to notice my energy, and my positive nature. I like to make things happen and create beauty. I continue to grow relationships in community and nature, with children, people and music.
My transition from performer to composer is a natural evolution. Perhaps a parallel to the perennials in my gardens, which continue to grow and support nature; pollinators, birds, rabbits, chipmunks, and such. The living creatures which are sheltered, fed and nurtured by the plants. There is purpose in every plant and each is integral to the essence of the natural community, by divine design.
I enjoy writing music as a mode of personal expression, and as a dimension to share the emotional journey of others. Creating music is an exciting, and elaborate construction project. Having renovated a few homes, it's a much more elegant form of construction!
I enjoy finding the sonic palette, seeking the right instrumentation, balance which needs to be reflected by the lyrics, or the concept. Harmony and the harmonic journey which a work may travel, can be rewarding in its scope of colour and resonance. Timbre is my sweet spot. Most of all, I’m a thematic melody writer. Folks always enjoy humming the tune as they leave a movie, a concert or a show. It’s an epiphany when the elements of music coalesce and bond like old friends or family meeting once again around the kitchen table!
Mine is a unique musical ecosystem which, nurtured by a diversity of musical opportunities & musical influences, continues to thrive and persists in growing. It is my intention to write music that reflects this essence & design.
My Services
Each family song I write reflects the unique story and spirit of the couple it celebrates. Whether drawing from heartfelt conversations or insights from loved ones, I craft lyrics that capture their journey — from how they met to where they’re headed. Collaborating with talented musicians and producers like Andy Thompson and Matt Holtby brings these stories to life, turning personal moments into timeless melodies.
I write with sincere intention and purpose, creating music that reflects both emotion and advocacy. My piece “Give a Child a Chance” was written to challenge changes to Ontario’s autism funding, while “The Imperial Blue Butterfly” was composed and narrated for the Peterborough Symphony’s Woodwind Ensemble, celebrating storytelling through music. I also offer custom works such as business jingles and soundscapes for film or promotional projects.
I am an accomplished composer, arranger, and performer whose work spans orchestral, film, and commercial projects. As a longtime member of the Quinte Symphony, I’ve composed original jingles for sponsors, written commissioned works for ensembles such as the Peterborough Symphony, and created expressive pieces like “Give a Child a Chance” and “Comin’ Down.” Based in rural Ontario, I continue to compose heartfelt, emotionally resonant music while staying active in my local arts community and offering healing through Biofield Tuning.
When I couldn’t attend a loved one’s funeral abroad, my daughter and I recorded a heartfelt Christian song that was played at the service, allowing our voices to be present in spirit, a song later replayed at my father’s Celebration of Life. This experience deepened my belief in creating intentional, personalised music to honour life’s most meaningful moments. That same spirit guided my later work composing a medley for the Tribute to the Brave concert at the National Airforce Museum of Canada, blending archival WWII songs into a moving tribute performed by orchestra, band, and choir.
As a longtime French Horn player with the Quinte Symphony Orchestra, I was invited to compose corporate jingles celebrating the orchestra’s sponsors — an idea proposed by pianist and composer Tom Dietzel. These collaborations include “Leo, the Royal Cadet” for Boston Pizza, “Wilkinson’s Pond” for Wilkinson’s 25th anniversary, and “A Scottish Thanks” for McDougall Insurance. Each piece blended orchestral performance with storytelling and community appreciation.
I aspire to compose music for film, drawing on my strength in creating emotionally resonant, character-driven works like “Give a Child a Chance,” inspired by my grandson and daughter’s advocacy for autistic children. My compositions span orchestral, jazz, choral, and solo styles, all rooted in expressive melodies and heartfelt storytelling. Living in the Ontario countryside, I continue to write, perform, and explore music’s healing power through community, creativity, and Biofield Tuning therapy.
